EVERY YEAR, A NEW LIFE.
EVERY STORY, A DIFFERENT ROAD.
THE SAME HUMAN QUESTION.

What remains of a person when the road tries to take away their home, their name, their family, or the promise of returning?

BEGIN THE SAGA

THE SAGA

UNDER THEIR SKIN is an open-ended literary series built around people forced to leave behind what they know and cross places where survival demands far more than simply moving forward. Every year, a new story joins this universe.

Chike crosses the desert and the sea. Amina fights to keep a trafficking network from turning her into a number. Their stories are different, their countries are different, and their wounds are different.

What connects them is one idea: for a few pages, to see the world from inside someone else's life. And when one story ends, another life is already waiting to be told.

WHAT IS UNDER THEIR SKIN ABOUT?

The saga explores migration, loss, exploitation, family, identity, memory, and survival through characters who cannot watch the journey from the outside. They have to live it.

There is no single journey. For Chike, the road runs through Africa, the Sahara, Morocco, and the sea. For Amina, a false opportunity becomes a trafficking network determined to erase her name.

UNDER THEIR SKIN never reduces its characters to a label. Each one carries memories, contradictions, mistakes, loyalties, fears, and a private reason to keep going.

CROSSING THE DESERT AND THE SEA

Chike Okoro is eighteen when he leaves Ajegunle, Nigeria, carrying the money his family has managed to gather, a photograph, and the hope of returning one day as someone capable of helping them.

His journey takes him through Niger, Agadez, the Sahara, Algeria, Morocco, and the Strait of Gibraltar. At every stage, he loses something: people, certainty, innocence, and pieces of himself. Yet even in the cruelest places, he discovers that an act of humanity can still appear.

AMINA

Amina is twenty years old and lives in Boubon, Niger, with a family that needs medicine, food, and a future. When a woman she trusts offers her work in Europe, she believes she has found a way out.

What begins as a promise becomes a trafficking network that takes her through Agadez, Libya, and Lagos. They will try to take her passport, her freedom, and even her identity. But Amina begins memorizing names, routes, license plates, and faces, because escaping will no longer be enough.

A NEW STORY EVERY YEAR. THE SAME WAY OF SEEING.

Every novel stands on its own. Chike and Amina open a universe that will continue to grow with a new story every year, new protagonists, new countries, and new journeys shaped by different dangers.

What unites the saga is its point of view: behind every number, every border, every headline, and every word used to describe people on the move, there is a person with a family, a memory, and a life that began long before the journey.

UNDER THEIR SKIN asks the reader to cross that distance. Not to watch from the outside, but to walk beside them. Some of these stories grow from realities, places, and people encountered at close range over years in environments where one hears the kinds of stories that rarely make it into a headline. Each book transforms those traces into a new life worth telling.

The UNDER THEIR SKIN release calendar will repeat every year: the eBook arrives on January 1, the paperback on February 1, and the hardcover on March 1. On that same March 1, pre-orders open for the following year's story. One book completes its arrival just as the next begins to come into view.

THE SYMBOLS OF THE SAGA

A photograph that reminds Chike who he is. A name Amina refuses to surrender.

In UNDER THEIR SKIN, small objects matter because they can hold an entire life. Photographs, stitching, songs, names, and promises survive when almost everything else disappears.

DOMINGO SÁEZ ROMERO

Domingo Sáez Romero is the author of UNDER THEIR SKIN, an open-ended saga built around human stories shaped by journeys, loss, identity, and survival. Every year, the universe expands with a new story.

Through Chike, Amina, and the lives still to come, the series changes protagonist, country, and route while keeping the same narrative purpose: bringing readers closer to experiences they usually know only from a distance.

The saga also has its own musical identity, with an official soundtrack and a Dance version that extend the project beyond the page.

STEP INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE

Two lives open the way. More will follow. A new story every year—each one too human to fit inside a number, a border, or a headline.
